There is a lot of things what we want to do that ethereum mining was easier and much more profitable.
Yes and it is possible to tweak your new Series graphic cards to go much faster then they do out of the box. AMD RX470 and RX480 are the best cards in the market now for ethereum mining, with few settings changed you are possible to run them at 20-30% speed increase.
So one of them is to modify your BIOS by flashing your graphic cards, its actually much more simple then it sounds for some. There is few little steps you have to take , so:
- You need to download 3 things GPU-Z for backing up your graphic card BIOS, Polaris Bios Editor for editing your BIOS , AtiWinFlash 2.74 for flashing your graphic card BIOS.
- 1 – go to your system drive C:\
2 – create a folder name winflash .
3 – Download ATIFlash 2.74 .
4 – Extract the ATIFlash compressed files to C:\winflash .
5 – Next open your GPU-Z and backup your graphic card somewhere safe, this is a backup to your card if something goes whong.
6 – Ok now it is i bit tricky open Polaris Bios Editor and open in it the file you just made backup
7 – when it is open go to timings tab and you need to copy timing strap which is in 1500 and then paste the same digits inside all the straps underneath 1500.
8 – save this in something easy name that you remmember because yoou will need this, save this in your C:drive where is you your atiwinflash extracted.
9 – Now right click on windows start and chose “command prompt admin” type this ( cd \ , cd winflash, atiwinflash -f -p 0 or 1 or 2 etc…which ever card you want to flash and then your bios edited file)
10 – it should look like this Type : atiwinflash -f -p 0 bios.rom , then it will Load the Bios for like 1 min and ask for a windows Restart
After you have flashed all the cards you can still tweak them with MSI afterburner, works great for me. My RX 470 cards by folowing these steps went from 22mh to 28.5 mh per card.
