Kingston Server Premier KSM56E46BD8KM-48HM is one 48GB DDR5-5600 ECC unbuffered DIMM for qualified server and workstation boards. Browse our RAM range and AI workstation components before choosing a platform. It is not an RDIMM kit, not ordinary desktop gaming RAM and not validated for every DDR5 motherboard.
Where this product makes sense
ECC-capable workstation memory
Use this module where the CPU, chipset, BIOS and motherboard vendor support DDR5 ECC unbuffered DIMMs. ECC operation is a platform capability, not a promise made by the memory module alone.
48GB density without a multi-module kit
This is one 48GB DIMM. Match module count, rank, memory channels and QVL rules for the target board instead of mixing it casually with unrelated DDR5 kits.
Conservative JEDEC timing
The SPD is programmed for JEDEC DDR5-5600 CL46 at 1.1V. It is not an XMP gaming overclock kit and should be selected for correctness and platform fit first.
Compatibility and limits
- Confirm exact motherboard QVL, BIOS revision and CPU memory support before ordering. A board that accepts DDR5 UDIMM may still reject ECC operation or this density.
- This is ECC unbuffered memory, not registered RDIMM or LRDIMM. It is not interchangeable with server platforms that require RDIMM.
- Do not pair it as an assumed bundle with consumer Z790 boards that list non-ECC UDIMM support only. Use a platform that explicitly supports ECC UDIMM.
- Mixing different module capacities, ranks or timings can reduce speed or prevent boot. Use matched validated modules where possible.
- The x72/ECC data path is from the exact Kingston datasheet. It is separate from DDR5 on-die ECC inside memory chips.
- No CPU, motherboard or complete memory kit is included. The module photo is product imagery, not independent proof of your platform compatibility.

Six useful answers before ordering
Is this RDIMM memory?
No. The exact Kingston datasheet identifies this as an ECC unbuffered DIMM. Platforms that require registered RDIMM or LRDIMM need a different memory type.
Will ECC work on any DDR5 motherboard?
No. ECC operation needs support from the CPU, chipset, BIOS and motherboard design. Check the board vendor support list for ECC UDIMM and this module density.
Can I install it with normal gaming DDR5?
Mixing modules is not recommended unless the platform vendor validates the exact combination. Capacity, rank, voltage, SPD timing and ECC capability must all match the system requirements.
Is DDR5-5600 an overclock profile?
No. This module uses JEDEC DDR5-5600 CL46 timing at 1.1V. It is not sold as an XMP/EXPO gaming kit.
Why does the listing mention x72?
The Kingston datasheet states a 6G x 72-bit organisation. That x72 data path is the module ECC configuration and should not be confused with DDR5 on-die ECC inside memory chips.
What warranty route should I use?
Keep the invoice and contact Mineshop for claim intake first. Kingston warranty terms require proof of purchase and eligibility; service outcome and route depend on the applicable Kingston terms.
