Description for: GIGABYTE UD1000GM PG5 V2 1000W – ATX 3.1 80 PLUS Gold Modular PSU

GIGABYTE · UD1000GM PG5 V2 · 1000 W · ATX 3.1 · 80 PLUS GOLD

1000 W of headroom for a single-GPU workstation.

A fully modular 1000 W ATX 3.1 power supply with a native 12V-2x6 cable rated up to 600 W, four PCIe 6+2-pin connectors and two CPU EPS connectors in a 140 mm long housing.

1000 W continuous · 12V-2x6 up to 600 W · 150 × 140 × 86 mm · 10-year warranty (subject to region)

Where it fits

A step up from 850 W for an AM5 workstation built around one current graphics card. GIGABYTE recommends an 850 W system PSU for the RTX 5080 Windforce OC SFF and 750 W for the RTX 5070 Ti Windforce OC SFF in our range, so a 1000 W unit leaves extra headroom for more drives, expansion cards and later upgrades. Add up your complete build before deciding.

GIGABYTE specifies the unit to Intel ATX 12V v3.1 and states that it handles power excursions of up to 3× GPU and 2× system power. All 1000 W are available on a single +12 V rail (83.3 A).

This is a power supply only, not a complete AI computer.

Compatibility before checkout

Graphics cards: the native 12V-2x6 (16-pin) cable delivers up to 600 W; GIGABYTE names the GeForce RTX 50 Series as an example. The RTX 5080 and RTX 5070 Ti Windforce cards in our range each have one 16-pin power socket for this cable. The ASUS Dual RTX 5060 Ti uses one 8-pin input, which a PCIe 6+2-pin connector covers.

Motherboards: the CPU/EPS cable carries two 4+4-pin connectors; the ASUS ProArt X870E-Creator WiFi, MSI MAG B850 Tomahawk Max WiFi and ASRock X870 Pro RS WiFi each have two 8-pin CPU power inputs.

Case: GIGABYTE lists the housing at 150 × 140 × 86 mm (140 mm deep); the Lian Li Lancool III accepts ATX power supplies under 220 mm.

Use only the modular cables supplied with this unit: modular cable pinouts differ between manufacturers and series, and mixing them can damage hardware.

GIGABYTE designed this unit for desktop PCs and states that use for other purposes, such as blockchain computing and mining, voids the warranty.

Connectors and cabling explained

All cables are modular, flat-embossed and black. GIGABYTE lists: 20+4-pin ATX (610 mm); two CPU/EPS 4+4-pin connectors on one cable (650 mm + 200 mm); four PCIe 6+2-pin connectors on two cables (600 mm + 150 mm each); one 12V-2x6 (12+4-pin) cable (700 mm); eight SATA connectors on two cables (600 + 150 + 150 + 150 mm each); and three 4-pin Molex plus one floppy connector on one cable (500 + 150 + 150 + 150 mm).

Efficiency and noise

The unit is 80 PLUS Gold certified; GIGABYTE quotes 90 % efficiency at 50 % load. Its 120 mm hydraulic-bearing fan adjusts to the load and, according to GIGABYTE, stays silent when the system is idle or under 20 % load.

Frequently asked questions

Is this the ATX 3.1 version?

Yes. GIGABYTE specifies the UD1000GM PG5 V2 (GP-UD1000GM PG5 V2) as Intel ATX 12V v3.1 and PCIe Gen 5.1 ready. The earlier UD1000GM PG5 (Rev. 1.0 and Rev. 2.0) is an ATX 3.0 model, so look for “V2” in the model name.

Does it have a native cable for RTX 5080 and RTX 5070 Ti cards?

Yes. One native 12V-2x6 (16-pin) cable delivers up to 600 W. The Dual RTX 5060 Ti uses an 8-pin input, which the PCIe 6+2-pin connectors cover.

Can I run two graphics cards from it?

It has one 12V-2x6 cable and four PCIe 6+2-pin connectors on two cables. The GPU makers’ recommendations quoted above are for single-card systems, so calculate the full load of a two-GPU build before choosing a power supply.

Can I use it in a mining rig?

GIGABYTE designs this unit for desktop PCs and states that use for blockchain computing or mining voids its warranty.

Can I reuse modular cables from another power supply?

No. Modular cable pinouts differ between manufacturers and series; use only the cables supplied with this unit.

Plan your complete build
