A PCIe power cable connects a compatible power source to a graphics card or mining component. It is different from the mains lead that connects equipment to a wall socket or power distribution unit. This category includes both, with PCIe adapters and splitters alongside C19–C20 and C13–C14 cords. Choose by the connectors at both ends, the equipment requirements and the cable's documented rating, not simply by appearance.
Start with the power supply and the device you want to connect. Record the connector type, required number of connections and manufacturer's cabling instructions. A GPU power cable must suit the card and its power source. An eight-pin CPU connector is not interchangeable with an eight-pin PCIe connector, and modular PSU-side wiring can differ between models. Use the PSU manufacturer's approved cables where a lead connects directly to a modular power supply.
The PCIe eight-pin to dual 6+2-pin splitter provides two branches from one connection; its listing specifies 18 AWG wire. A splitter adds connectors, not power capacity. The source lead, connectors and PSU must support the combined load, and the graphics-card manufacturer's instructions still apply. Where separate PSU leads are required, a Y-splitter is not a substitute.
The 50 cm six-pin to 6+2-pin PCIe cable is listed for breakout-board connections with 18 AWG wire. This is a specific connection arrangement, not a universal six-pin-to-eight-pin upgrade for any PSU. Check the exact board's pinout and permitted load before selecting it. For a new build, review the graphics card and power supply requirements together.
IEC mains connectors serve a different role from internal PCIe wiring. A C19 cord connector mates with a C20 equipment inlet; a C13 cord connector mates with a C14 inlet. At the supply end, the matching plug must fit the PDU or other approved outlet. These connector families are physically different, so identify the equipment inlet and supply outlet before ordering.
Neither connector shape nor wire gauge alone establishes suitability for a particular miner. Compare the complete cord's voltage and current ratings with the equipment and installation requirements. The socket, PDU, upstream circuit and protective devices also have limits. A cable cannot increase the capacity of the circuit feeding it.
For a mining rig, separate the mains path from the low-voltage connections inside the system. Make a simple list of the PSU inputs, graphics-card power sockets, breakout-board outputs and any separately powered risers. Count the connections actually needed. A riser carrying PCIe data is not the same product as a power lead, even if both appear in a cables category.
Measure the intended route rather than the straight-line distance between components. Leave enough slack for maintenance without stretching connectors or blocking fans. Keep leads away from hot exhaust, sharp edges and moving parts. Longer is not automatically better: unnecessary loops make inspection harder and can obstruct airflow. Browse the components range for the rest of the build, or use the PC configurator to organise a desktop shortlist.
AWG describes conductor size; a lower AWG number indicates a thicker conductor. It does not describe connector quality, insulation temperature limits or the complete assembly's approved current. Read the actual product specification and manufacturer instructions. Do not infer a safe wattage from a gauge number or from the number of branches on a splitter.
Continuous mining loads deserve careful electrical planning. Have a qualified electrician assess mains circuits, outlets and distribution equipment. Account for all devices sharing the supply, including ventilation equipment. Do not use improvised adapters to force incompatible connectors together. Disconnect power before handling internal leads, seat connectors fully, and stop using a damaged cable or connector that shows heat discolouration.
Check both ends against clear photographs and the device manuals. Note the exact length, connector orientation and whether the product is an extension, adapter or replacement lead. EU and UK wall plugs are different; a destination in the EU does not make every listed wall-plug cord suitable. Ask about any missing rating or pinout before buying.
Mineshop offers tracked EU delivery from Ireland and Latvia. Consult the shipping information and the individual product's delivery details for your destination. This category does not promise stock or an arrival date. Read the return policy and applicable product warranty terms, and retain the invoice and packaging. Compatibility should be established before installation rather than tested by plugging in an uncertain cable.
No. PCIe leads supply compatible internal components; mains cords connect equipment to an AC power source. Match each part of the power path separately.
No. It adds connection branches, but the original lead, connectors and PSU retain their limits.
No. They are different connector families. Select the cord that matches both the equipment inlet and supply outlet.
No. PSU-side pinouts can differ. Use a cable explicitly approved for your exact power-supply model.
