Compare power supply options for a new PC, a workstation upgrade or a dedicated device by checking capacity, connectors and physical fit together. This category includes ATX 3.1 desktop models in several wattages, alongside supplies for specific equipment. Choose the unit that meets your complete component list, not simply the largest wattage. The product examples below help separate conventional PC choices from supplies with different outputs and connections.

How to choose a power supply for your build

For a PC, make a complete component list, including the processor, graphics hardware, drives and peripherals. Consult the relevant manufacturers' recommendations for capacity and connectors. Leave appropriate headroom for the intended configuration and workload, but avoid treating a component's thermal rating as an exact measurement of total wall consumption. A wattage label describes the supply's capacity, not what your computer continuously draws.

Review your processor options and graphics hardware together. Check the motherboard's power connections before selecting cables. CPU/EPS and PCIe leads serve different purposes and must not be swapped because their shapes appear similar. Follow the device and supply instructions for the exact connectors required.

Compare exact PC models, not only wattage

The be quiet! Pure Power 13 M 850W is an ATX 3.1 modular model with an 80 PLUS Gold rating. Its published connector specification includes a 12V-2x6 connection rated at 600W, along with motherboard, CPU and other device connections. That connector rating does not mean the connected GPU always consumes that amount.

If your configuration calls for a 1000W power supply, the GIGABYTE UD1000GM PG5 V2 is a listed ATX 3.1, 80 PLUS Gold modular example. Its specified connectors include two CPU/EPS 4+4-pin connections, one 12V-2x6 connection rated at 600W and four PCIe 6+2-pin connectors. Check that the supplied cable arrangement suits your exact devices rather than judging by connector totals alone.

The be quiet! Dark Power 14 1200W is an ATX 3.1 model rated 80 PLUS Titanium. Its dimensions are 175 × 150 × 86mm, and the listed native GPU leads include two 12V-2x6 cables and four PCIe 6+2-pin connectors. A 1200W PSU still needs a suitable mounting space and cable layout; higher capacity does not remove those checks.

Efficiency ratings and standards explained

An efficiency certification and a wattage rating describe different characteristics. Efficiency concerns the relationship between electrical input and output under defined test conditions. It does not guarantee the same result at every load or establish the noise of the finished computer. When comparing an 80 PLUS Platinum PSU with Gold or Titanium alternatives, examine the exact model rather than treating the certification as a complete quality verdict.

An ATX 3.1 power supply should still be checked against the intended hardware and connector requirements. A standard name does not establish the number of provided leads, their length or the dimensions of the unit. Likewise, a modular power supply makes cable selection part of the installation process; it does not authorize reuse of cables from an unrelated model.

Modular cables, clearance and cooling

Use only cables explicitly approved for the exact supply. The connections on the supply side of modular cables are not a universal interchangeable system. Mixing cables can damage equipment even when the connectors appear to fit. Keep unused original leads with the product and label them so they cannot be confused with cables from another build.

Measure the available PSU space, allowing room for plugs and cable bends. Check whether drive cages or other components restrict usable length. Route GPU leads without strain, ensure connectors are fully seated and follow the manufacturer's bending guidance. A neat layout should improve access without pulling on sockets or blocking the required ventilation path.

Noise and efficiency depend on the load and cooling conditions, not just the product's capacity. Keep intake and exhaust openings clear and follow the case instructions for orientation. Do not interpret a semi-passive mode as a promise that the supply remains silent in every workload. Plan the complete arrangement with the PC configurator, then confirm the selected parts against their documentation.

Dedicated device supplies are a separate choice

The Meanwell PSU XT60 listing specifies a 12V DC output and an XT60 output connector. Other items in this category use different outputs or connections. A familiar plug shape or an acceptable input voltage is not enough to establish suitability: confirm the required output voltage, polarity, current capacity and connection against the device documentation.

Do not adapt a dedicated supply to a different device on guesswork. Equipment requiring another voltage or connector should be matched with an explicitly suitable product. Never open a supply or attempt internal mains-voltage repairs. If a specification is unclear, clarify the exact model and intended use before connecting it.

EU delivery and warranty checks

Mineshop offers tracked delivery to all 27 EU countries from our warehouses in Ireland and Latvia. Read the selected product's delivery details and the shipping policy for the applicable arrangement. This category guide does not confirm stock or promise a dispatch time. Review each component separately when planning a complete system.

Confirm the exact item's warranty terms, keep the invoice and original cables, and record its identifying information. No universal warranty duration is stated here. Consult the return policy for the applicable process. Resolve uncertain compatibility before installation, particularly where a dedicated device supply differs from a standard PC unit.

PSU buying FAQ

Does a 1000W unit always consume 1000W?

No. Its wattage describes capacity; actual consumption depends on the connected system, workload and efficiency.

Can I reuse modular cables from another supply?

Only when the manufacturer explicitly confirms compatibility with the exact model. Similar-looking connections are not sufficient.

Is every product here an ATX PC unit?

No. The category also contains dedicated device supplies with different outputs and connectors.

Does a higher efficiency rating confirm case fit?

No. Verify the unit's dimensions, mounting arrangement and cable clearance separately.
